Just wanted to let everyone know that my first ever book signing was a complete success! I was shocked at the interest we had in my books, and we even sold most of our stock in a single day! This was at the Experience Lakeside Event in Lakeside, Oregon on the 13th @ 5pm and the 14th at 10am.
I was there for a few hours on the 13th, but there were some miscommunications that limited the number of people who came out so we called it quits for the night and went down to the Lodge and had dinner. I did make $0.90 cents thought from someone making a donation (I don’t even ask for those).
This morning, though, we set up around 9:30AM. By the time we got outside the entire street was blocked off and they had flags up and were getting ready to blow up the bouncy houses. We got to work and set up our booth – table, cloth, our inventory of books, hung all the signs, etc.
We were sitting in the booth for about 30 minutes when a couple pulled in directly in front of us and parked. They got out and immediately came over to our table and started asking questions about the stories. They then bought all three available books: Ashen Monk, In the Meadow, and Seeking Light Aurora for their adult son! First sale of the day! First hardcover sale of my career!

And that was how the day went. Had several other people inquire and talk to me about books and publishing. One gentleman talked with me about the realities of publishing deals with traditional book publishers and how more and more authors are finding it much more advantageous to self-publish. Then we had another couple come and buy another bundle. Then one came and purchased Seeking Light Aurora.
It went on like this throughout the day. We took a break midday and I went walk about with my family to see what the festival had to offer. Then we went back and set back up for a few more hours, sold a few more books before the festival ended and we called it a day.
I sold copies of every book we had available, many more than I would have ever imagined. The customers were wonderful and seemed really excited to talk to a local author and everyone loved the option to get an autographed copy.
We learned a lot from the event – what to do, what not to do – it was great that it was a family affair with my wife and all the kids. My youngest daughter, Elly, caught the entrepreneurial bug right away as soon as she discovered we were giving bookmarks and candy away. She should jump out at everyone who walked passed our table and say, “Hey, would you like a piece of candy and a bookmark?” She even started drawing pictures and would include a picture with every bookmark. One man took a picture and bookmark from her, then about a half our later he came back and handed me two dollars and said to give it to the young lady for her artwork. So, even my kids are making money!

All in all it was a great success, especially for my first ever book signing and sale event. We will next be focused on securing a month long promotional spot at our local bank where they allow us to set up a display for the month and are able to sell products and provide promotional materials.
While we are doing that I will be focused on finishing Our Son, and finishing the edits on Single Shooter Protocol, Writing Kathy and Charlotte, Beautiful the Meadow, From His Rib, and Sacred the Sent. If you would like to take a look at the books I currently have available, both in print and in digital format, please check out the Isaac Hunter Store.
One of the feedback we got from customers and interested persons was they would like to see my books in audiobook format. It’s not something I’ve considered seriously before, but now we are. What do you think? Should we get Isaac Hunter books in audiobook format? Let me know in the comments below!
NOTE TO EVERYONE WHO CAME TO THE BOOK SIGNING EVENT
If you were at the event this weekend in Lakeside I would love to hear from you! If you purchased a book from me today or if you talked with my family or I, please leave a message down in the comments on this post. Let me know if you liked the books you purchased. I would love to hear from you!

Excerpt from The Light Aurora
The door’s lock released and Dr. Lewis looked around at each of them.
“Stay close, and be ready for anything. I’m not sure if they’re all in the Command Center or if they are trying to secure Level 4. Hell, they could all be evacuating.”
He stared at Scott as he came up onto the landing.
“Let’s go,” Scott said.
Dr. Lewis pushed the door open and walked out into the hall, followed by the others – in ones and twos. Level 2 was similar to the other level, with a long corridor, doors on either side, all with security displays recessed into the wall next to them.
But, as they entered the corridor, Scott’s breath caught in his throat. As he stood there with the others, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. In front of them, probably no more than a few yards away, were three bodies lying on the floor. One was sitting up against the wall, the side of his face melted, exposing his right eyeball and a good portion of his right skull. Another one was laying face down, his entire back opened up at the spine, as if his spinal cord had been ripped out of him from behind. The last one was a few more feet away from the others, on his back, his eyes seared from his head, black, burnt flesh where his eyes used to be.
The intercom came back to crackling life.
“Professor?” Derrick said over the intercom.
“Don’t worry. You can answer,” he said. “I can hear you.”
Scott looked up, then fixed his gaze on the security camera at the end of the corridor.
“Yes?” Scott finally asked.
There was a pause, static.
“What are you doing, Derrick?” he asked. “Did you do this?”
“Indeed,” Derrick said, coming back on.
“Why?”
“They refused to help me.”
“What are you trying to do, Derrick?” Scott asked.
There was another pause.
“I want to go home, Professor,” the boy said.
“Home?”
“Yes,” Derrick said, his tone soaked with some other-worldly confidence that did not belong in an innocent, ten year old boy.
“I want to go home, Professor,” he said again. “Would you be interested in coming home with me?”
