January Catch-Up: A Quiet Invitation for New Readers

January has always felt like a gentle pause. After the rush of the holidays and the noise of the year behind us, there is suddenly space again — space to read, to begin something new, or to finally return to a story you meant to start.

For readers who have been curious about the Meadow series, I’m running a small, quiet January Catch-Up this week.

This series is where much of my writing life began. It explores fear, faith, and the strange spaces where the natural and the supernatural meet. If you enjoy slow-burn suspense, spiritual questions, and stories that linger, this is a good place to start.

Thank you, as always, for reading, for supporting independent authors, and for making space for stories in your life. I’ll be back at my desk this week, continuing work on the next book.

BEGIN THE JANUARY CATCH-UP

And for those who’d like a small glimpse into the world of the Meadow Series, here is a brief passage from the opening of In the Meadow:

Excerpt from In the Meadow

She looked down at herself, almost surprised at the cold, vacant stare looking back up at her. Those eyes, wide, frozen white.

She blinked repeatedly, shivering. And the man, he looked so familiar.

She could remember him looming over her, as she wrestled against him, his hands so strong and tight around her neck. She remembered choking, gasping for air. It was like a dream now, though. Her thoughts, her feelings, all jumbled together in a kind of gray, icy haze.

She looked down again at her lifeless body.

An empty shell.

Everything she had been or could have been was gone now. There was nothing left, something to be discarded, covered over with earth, hidden and forgotten.

The girl looked over her shoulder at the black sky, then looked back at him. Daylight would come soon.

And he was almost finished.
