Finally, after seven long months, I was able to return to the Eden Property to get a mental picture of what had happened (or not happened) over the winter, what if any damage was done to the temporary shelter, the deck, or the ramps or dock, and also so I could come away and make some decisions on what the future holds for Eden and also for myself.

Another book I read as part of my Unschooled Master of Theology Program was Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey.
It was a recommendation by a coworker when he found out about the property I was working on, how I paddle an hour and a half each way to get out there, and currently when there I live in basically a tent.
I didn’t have very high expectations. I’d never heard of Abbey before. But, I found a copy online and gave it a go anyway, despite my reservations. To my surprise, it turned out to be quite an interesting story.
So, let’s find out what exactly it is we’ve lost…

Awhile back, I discovered a book by Henry David Thoreau called Where I Lived and What I Lived For. It was a small book, but it also ended up being quite a fascinating read. In fact, I think there are few books in this world that I’ve taken such a liking to so quickly.
