Karii moved to Alaska to start fresh. She wanted a new life without her ex-boyfriend, without her old life from the lower 48 reminding her of all the things she’d done wrong.
The Dalton Highway seemed like the ticket. And, the money was really good, too. So, Karii struck out and headed for the top of the world. Before long, she was scheduled for her first solo run, due north, to the Lobo Mines.
But, just when she thought she had everything well in hand, a freak electrical problem with her truck strands her at a remote diner along the highway.
Things, though, quickly grow even worse. The strangers she meets, they are acting peculiar. As if they are all in on a secret that only they are privy to.
What are they keeping from her? And, why are they acting so strange? Will Karii survive the night and get her semi truck working by morning? Or, does something much more sinister await for her beneath the Aurora?
NO ONE CAN BE TRUSTED
The little boy, Derrick, seems friendly enough. His mother is sitting in the back booth of the diner, often stares out the window at the lights as they shimmer in the night skies.
The waitress, Peggy, seems very nice. So does the cook.
There’s a man sitting at the counter who doesn’t talk much, and another one at one of the booths who doesn’t talk at all.
What’s with these people?
